Tree Crashes Hotel Roof Amidst Mussoorie Rains

A significant tree collapsed onto the roof of Hotel Surya Kiran on Mussoorie's Mall Road at approximately 12:30 AM on Sunday. The uprooted tree, a casualty of prolonged heavy rains, caused considerable damage to the hotel's upper section. It also dislodged a railing from the roadside, which subsequently fell and severely damaged a car parked outside the premises. Fortunately, no one was in the affected part of the hotel at the time of the incident.

The fire brigade responded promptly, clearing the road of debris shortly after the tree fell. Hotel staff removed the branches from the roof later that morning. In a separate but related incident, heavy rainfall earlier in the week washed away a section of the Mussoorie-Dehradun road near Pani Wala Bend. Consequently, the movement of heavy vehicles has been halted at Kilometer 21 of this route. The Public Works Department (PWD) has commenced repair work, anticipating that normal vehicular movement will resume within approximately one week.
