Murrieta Wildfire Erupts: Evacuations Underway

The Volcano Fire, a rapidly spreading wildfire, erupted Tuesday afternoon near the La Cresta community in unincorporated Murrieta. By Tuesday afternoon, the blaze had consumed 75 acres and remained uncontained, with its cause under investigation.
More than 125 firefighters, supported by numerous engines, helicopters, bulldozers, and air tankers, were engaged in combating the flames. Firefighting efforts were focused on preventing the spread of the fire, leading to road closures on Tenaja Road and Los Gatos Road.
As a precautionary measure, authorities initiated evacuations for residents in the affected area. Those displaced were directed to seek shelter at Chaparral High School in Temecula, which also accommodated pets. Large animals displaced by the fire were relocated to the Murrieta Equestrian Center.
