Mumbai Trains Rerouted for Ganesh Idol Immersion Rush
18 Sep
Summary
- 37 fast trains will stop at all stations during peak immersion hours.
- 84 local trains will skip Platform 2 at Charni Road to manage crowds.
- Temporary schedule changes aim to facilitate passenger movement safely.
Western Railway has announced temporary revisions to suburban train services at Charni Road station for Anant Chaturdashi on September 25. These changes, requested by the Government Railway Police, aim to manage the anticipated surge of devotees during Ganesh idol immersions.
From 5 PM to 8:30 PM, 37 through-line trains operating between Mumbai Central and Churchgate will halt at all intermediate stations. This extended stopping pattern is intended to ease passenger flow towards Girgaum Chowpatty, a major immersion site.
Furthermore, 84 local-line trains will not stop at Platform 2 at Charni Road between 6 PM and 11:30 PM. This measure seeks to stagger passenger arrivals and prevent simultaneous congestion at the station.
Additionally, three 15-car services will be unaffected by these modifications, as they typically do not stop at Charni Road due to platform length constraints. These revised timings are approved to ensure safety and efficient travel for devotees.
