A 12ft Ganesh idol being transported to Dharavi from Vidyavihar disintegrated near Sheetal Talao on LBS Road in Kurla (West) on Tuesday night. The mishap occurred after the cart bearing the idol struck a speed breaker, causing it to lose balance and collapse. Two individuals, Santosh Jaiswal (28) and Rohit Jaiswal (25), sustained minor head injuries in the incident. They received prompt medical attention at Kurla Bhabha Hospital and Habib Hospital respectively and were subsequently discharged. The idol belonged to the Om Shakti Mitra Mandal from Dharavi. In response to the event, mandal authorities proceeded with the idol's immersion in Sheetal Talao. This incident echoes a similar tragedy two weeks prior, where a much larger 27ft idol collapsed during its arrival ceremony, resulting in two fatalities.
