15 Aug
Summary
- Firefighters rescued a small mouse from a burning hedgerow.
- The mouse was seen trying to escape the smouldering undergrowth.
- Broken glass reflecting sunlight likely caused the fire.

Firefighters on Thursday afternoon rescued a small field mouse discovered amidst a smouldering hedgerow fire. The crew was initially dispatched to a grass verge and hedgerow fire at Walton Grounds in Kings Sutton, Northamptonshire.
During their operation, they observed the tiny animal attempting to flee the encroaching flames. The mouse was given some water by the fire service before being allowed to escape back into the surrounding area.
Authorities suspect that the fire was started by sunlight reflecting off broken glass. They have issued a reminder to the public to dispose of bottles and other types of litter responsibly to prevent similar incidents.
