A 19-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a crash that occurred on Friday in the Town of Hopewell. The incident took place on State Route 488 when a driver traveling west attempted to turn left into a residential driveway. This driver failed to yield to an eastbound motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The injured motorcyclist was transported by Canandaigua Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital. Their injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle involved was evaluated at the scene but did not require hospitalization.
Following the investigation, deputies issued the driver a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way. A section of State Route 488 was temporarily closed for about an hour to allow for the investigation of the crash scene.
