A tragic incident occurred on Monday evening in the Pipri police station area of Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the drowning of a woman and a child. Usha (24) and her niece Rinki (2) lost their lives after falling into a canal connected to the Rihand dam.
The victims were attempting to cross the canal using a tube when they lost their balance and were swept into the deep water. Local residents immediately alerted the authorities. A search operation, including local divers, commenced but was halted due to darkness and dense underwater vegetation.
