Early on September 9th, two minor earthquakes were recorded in Maryland, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The larger of the two tremors registered a magnitude of 2.1, occurring just after midnight with its epicenter south of Rising Sun in Cecil County.
A second, smaller earthquake with a magnitude of 1.7 was also detected approximately 2.2 miles south of Rising Sun. Such seismic events are generally considered minor and are unlikely to result in significant damage, though they can be felt in the immediate vicinity of their origin.
