Mersin Fuel Tanker Erupts in Flames

A fuel tanker erupted in flames on the TAG highway connection road in Mersin, creating a dangerous situation with intermittent explosions. The tanker was loaded with approximately 26,000 liters of fuel, comprising both gasoline and diesel. The driver noticed the fire and safely pulled over, immediately alerting emergency services.

Responding fire crews engaged in a high-risk operation to extinguish the blaze. Despite loud explosions and the vehicle becoming fully engulfed, the professional intervention of the fire department ensured no injuries occurred. Additional teams and an aerial ladder vehicle were utilized in a coordinated effort to control the fire and begin cooling operations.

Following the incident, traffic was managed, and the road was eventually reopened after a thorough cleaning operation removed foam and fuel residue. An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway, with officials commending the swift action that averted a major disaster.
