Subway service in Manhattan experienced significant disruptions on Monday morning, impacting A, B, C, and D train lines. These issues stemmed from discoveries made during planned weekend track demolition and replacement work at the 81st St. and Central Park West station.
Crews found large rocks and debris scattered along the local tracks, as well as cracks underneath the track bed. As a result, downtown local service was suspended between 125th St. and 59th St.-Columbus Circle. Uptown A, B, C, and D trains ran with delays, while uptown B and C trains operated as local services throughout Manhattan.
Temporary maintenance was performed on the affected trackbed sections. Permanent repairs are scheduled for a later date. Commuters traveling through the affected corridor were advised to consider alternative routes using the 1, 2, and 3 trains.
