A man tragically lost his life on Saturday afternoon after deliberately jumping into the tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Eyewitnesses reported the man, who was wearing AirPods and holding a mobile phone, scaled a fence and jumped approximately 12 feet into the 'Land of the Tigers'.
A visitor recounted that a woman attempted to pull the man back from the viewing platform but was unsuccessful. The man then approached the Amur tiger, Altai, and was subsequently attacked and dragged away. Rangers responded swiftly, firing warning shots to deter the tiger and secure the animal.
Altai, who had recently arrived at the park for a breeding program, will not be euthanized following the incident. The park, located near Doncaster, remains closed as staff receive specialist support. The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 PM on Saturday, with police and paramedics arriving quickly at the scene.
