Man Dies After Touching Live Wire on Road

A man tragically lost his life on Saturday evening following an electrocution incident on the Panaji-Margao highway near Vasco. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Ankit Lakra from Chhattisgarh, was a passenger in a rickshaw.
Around 10 pm, near the Birla Cross junction, a 11 kV high-tension wire reportedly snapped and fell onto the road. This was attributed to heavy rainfall and strong winds battering the region at the time.
Alerted by a crackling sound, Lakra exited the rickshaw in an attempt to escape. Tragically, he made contact with the live wire and died instantly. The rickshaw driver, however, escaped the incident without any injuries. Verna police are investigating the unnatural death and have sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
