A man in his 30s has tragically died following a fall from a 13-storey building in Sunderland city centre. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, prompting a significant emergency service response.
Northumbria Police were alerted around 2:40 PM to concerns for a man's welfare on the roof of the Echo Building on Wear Street. Despite the rapid attendance of emergency personnel, including ambulance services and a Hazardous Area Response Team, the man had fallen from the building and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations suggest no third-party involvement in the man's tragic death. The next of kin have been informed, and the case will be referred to the coroner for further review.
