12 Mar
Summary
- Intoxicated man freed six lions from their enclosures.
- He was attacked by the lions after seeking refuge in their cage.
- The man sustained severe injuries to his arms and face.

A man in Mexico, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, unleashed six lions from their enclosures at the Los Pinos Reserve. The individual had scaled a fence to free the big cats, which were housed in a reserve for former circus animals. After releasing them, he sought shelter within one of their cages, only to be attacked by the very animals he had freed.
The man, estimated to be around 40 years old, sustained severe injuries to his arms and face during the encounter. He was rescued by keepers who arrived on the scene and raised the alarm. The lions were safely returned to their enclosures, and the man was transported to a hospital for treatment.
This incident follows another concerning event in China, where a 10-year-old girl was grasped by a lion at Shantou Zhongshan Park Zoo. The girl was feeding the animal through its cage bars when the lion extended its paw and caught her trouser leg, pulling her towards it.
