Mumbai Chawl Erupts: Toddler Among 7 Injured in Gas Blast

An explosion occurred in Mumbai's Malad West on Tuesday morning, resulting in injuries to seven individuals. The incident took place at approximately 9:25 am after a gas leak from a cylinder ignited, causing a blast in a chawl near Bharat Mata School in the Malvani area.

The explosion triggered a fire, which caused damage to household items within a first-floor room of the two-storey structure. Local residents quickly responded, taking the injured to private hospitals before some were transferred to civic-run medical facilities.

Among the injured, two women, identified as Roma (35) and Alisha (18), suffered severe burns affecting approximately 35 percent of their bodies, placing them in critical condition. A 60-year-old woman, Julekhabano Aftaf Ansari, and a 2-year-old toddler, Adil Shaikh, were admitted to Cooper Hospital.
