A fatal road accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old motorcyclist on Monday afternoon in Madhubani. The incident happened near Panchwati Chowk at Ranti village, on the Madhubani-Rampatti National Highway.
The victim, Om Prakash Sahu, a resident of Kamla Bari (Lohat) under Pandaul police station, was en route home after a medical consultation. A high-speed bus, traveling from behind, struck his motorcycle shortly after he crossed a railway line. Sahu fell and was subsequently run over by the bus, resulting in his immediate death.
Following the accident, the bus driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. However, locals apprehended the bus helper. In response to the tragedy, agitated residents initiated a protest by blocking the highway and laying the deceased's body on the road. This action caused a significant disruption to traffic, with vehicles queuing for miles.
