The injured individuals were identified as Vikas, a 27-year-old who works at a local plastic factory, and three children: Rahul (4), Arjun, and Surjeet. The incident took place while Vikas was cooking in the room he shared with the family of the injured children.
According to eyewitness accounts, the fire erupted suddenly when Vikas had lit the gas stove. Local sources suggest the fire may have been caused by a rat biting the gas pipe, leading to a leak. Vikas, who suffered burns to his face, recounted that as soon as he struck a match, the fire quickly spread and engulfed the nearby children, who were sitting in the room.
The sudden fire led to an explosion, rapidly filling the room with smoke. Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing the children's screams and pulled the victims out of the smoke-filled room before rushing them to the hospital.
At the civil hospital, doctors confirmed that the patients had sustained burn injuries ranging from 7 to 15%. While Rahul's initial condition caused concern about a possible referral to a specialized facility, his condition has since stabilized, and all four injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
