In the early hours of Wednesday, a distressing scene unfolded on Lucknow's Pakka Pul when patrolling policemen discovered an abandoned cab. Their investigation led them to a 22-year-old cab driver fighting for his life in the Gomti River.

Constable Avdhesh Kumar swiftly acted, arranging a boat at Kudia Ghat and rowing into the river. Despite difficulties, he reached the distressed man and brought him safely back to shore. The driver, who is from Pratapgarh and lives in Chinhat, cited mounting car loan installments and overdue payments as reasons for his distress.
