A worker at a Mr Whippy ice cream truck was seriously injured after being struck by lightning on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place at the Robertson Show, located on High Street in Robertson, within the NSW Southern Highlands.
The 20-year-old employee was reportedly standing near a metal pole at the rear of the ice cream van when the lightning bolt hit. Witnesses described the worker being thrown backward by the force of the electric shock.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 4pm. The injured worker was conscious and alert as he was transported to Bowral District Hospital. His injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening.
