A one-year-old girl tragically lost her life after a leopard entered her home in Trambakpur village, Amreli district. The animal suddenly attacked the child while she was near her mother. Despite the mother's brave attempts to intervene with a utensil, the leopard dragged the toddler away. The child's body was later found about 3 km from a wildlife sanctuary.
This incident highlights a concerning trend of wild cat attacks on humans in the region. Earlier this week, a five-year-old boy was killed by a lioness in Bagasara taluka, and a two-year-old girl was killed by a lioness in Gir Somnath district. A farmer was also mauled by a lion in Amreli district.
In response to the latest leopard attack, forest officials have deployed seven cages in the vicinity in an effort to capture the animal. The victim's family, originally from Madhya Pradesh, were working as farm laborers in the village.
