A tragic leopard attack near Khairatiya village railway station has claimed the life of 14-year-old Raj Kamal Singh. The incident occurred on Monday night, with the boy's body discovered by family and villagers the following morning.
Officials from the Dudhwa buffer zone confirmed the presence of leopard pug marks at the site where the attack took place near the Mohana river. The boy had reportedly walked towards the railway tracks when the leopard attacked him.
In response to the incident, villagers and farmers' union leaders staged a protest, demanding monetary compensation and jobs for the victim's family. They also called for the entire area to be fenced to prevent big cat movements into human settlements, citing that such fencing in other sensitive zones had prevented casualties for two years.
