NDRF Teams on High Alert as Varanasi Celebrates Kartik Purnima

As the city of Varanasi celebrates the auspicious Kartik Purnima festival on November 5, 2025, lakhs of devotees have gathered to take a holy dip in the sacred Ganga river and offer lamps. To ensure the safety and security of the large crowds, the authorities have taken extensive measures.
Nine teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed at major ghats, including Rajghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, and Assi Ghat, equipped with state-of-the-art life-saving equipment. The NDRF rescuers are on high alert to handle any emergency situations that may arise during the festivities.
Additionally, the Police Commissioner, Mohit Agrawal, and the Additional DGP Traffic, A Satish Ganesh, have conducted on-site inspections of the various ghats to oversee the preparations. They have laid special emphasis on VIP arrivals, crowd management, security arrangements, boat operations, traffic control, and strengthening law and order to ensure the Dev Deepawali festival is conducted peacefully, safely, and in an organized manner.
The authorities have also equipped the major ghats along the Ganga banks with boats and parking arrangements, ensuring that all safety standards, such as life jackets and experienced boatmen, are in place. Security and fire-fighting arrangements have been put on high alert, with the deployment of watch towers, Quick Response Teams, and fire tenders to ensure the festival celebrations can proceed without any incidents.
