23 Mar
Summary
- Regional jet from Montreal struck a vehicle upon landing.
- Airport operations halted, flights diverted or returned.
- Incident occurred at a speed of approximately 24 mph.

A regional jet operated by Air Canada Express was involved in a runway incident on Sunday evening at New York's LaGuardia Airport. The CRJ-900 aircraft, arriving from Montreal, struck a ground vehicle shortly after landing.
Following the collision, airport operations were significantly disrupted. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) initiated a ground stop for all departures from LaGuardia due to the aircraft emergency.
The incident, which involved the plane striking the vehicle at approximately 24 miles per hour, prompted the closure of the airport. Arriving flights were rerouted to alternative airports or sent back to their departure points.
Footage circulating on social media, though unverified, appeared to show damage to the front of the aircraft. The FAA indicated that the airport closure had a high probability of being extended beyond its initial scheduled time.
