8 Nov
Summary
- A woman was arrested for intentionally starting a brush fire.
- The fire was limited to half an acre in Angeles National Forest.
- She was booked on charges of recklessly setting fire to forestry land.

Authorities arrested a Los Angeles County woman on Saturday for allegedly intentionally starting a brush fire within the Angeles National Forest. U.S. Forest Service firefighters responded to the scene on Little Tujunga Canyon Road, where they observed the suspect near a small blaze.
While crews worked to extinguish the fire, which was contained to just half an acre, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies investigated. They determined the woman had deliberately started the fire.
The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Sheila Nartatez from Los Angeles, was arrested for recklessly igniting forestry land. She was booked at Crescenta Valley Station Jail with bail set at $35,000.
This arrest occurred during a period of red flag warnings across Los Angeles County, underscoring the severe risks associated with starting fires in high-wind, dry conditions. Such conditions can rapidly escalate small fires into uncontrollable wildfires, endangering lives and property.
