Summary
- Two siblings died instantly after a truck hit their two-wheeler.
- The accident occurred due to illegally dumped stone chips on BT Road.
- The truck driver has been detained, and an investigation is underway.

Two young siblings, Aradhya Sau (9) and Arav Sau (6), tragically lost their lives in a devastating road accident on BT Road in Baranagar. The children were traveling with their father on a two-wheeler when a speeding truck collided with their vehicle near Mallik Colony. Both children died at the scene, while their father suffered critical injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata.
Eyewitnesses reported that the two-wheeler lost control while attempting to navigate around piles of stone chips dumped along the roadside. This maneuver caused the vehicle to be struck by a truck from behind. None of the occupants were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
Baranagar police have detained the truck and its driver. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash, with a focus on whether the illegally dumped construction materials contributed to the hazard. The incident has sparked significant public outcry, with residents demanding action against those responsible for creating dangerous road conditions.
This tragedy echoes a similar fatal accident in 2016 involving students from the same school on BT Road.
