A tragic fire on North Welles Street in Kingston has resulted in the deaths of two young brothers. The eldest, a 13-year-old boy, passed away late Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital -- Cedar Crest due to severe fire-related injuries. His younger brother, 11 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze.
Firefighters from the Kingston/Forty Fort Fire Department heroically rescued the boys from the second floor of the residence. The mother was asleep on the first floor and escaped, while the father and daughter fled through a second-floor window. Both deceased boys were students at Wyoming Valley West Middle School.
The fire, which is not believed to be suspicious, appears to have originated on the first floor, according to surveillance footage. The county coroner's office has extended condolences to the grieving family and the Kingston community. Kingston police are accepting donations of clothes, gift cards, and toys for the family.
