- Car occupants, all college students, arrested for alleged drunk driving.

A devastating collision on Airport Road in Nedumbassery, Kerala, has led to the deaths of three young people. The incident occurred when a Mini Cooper, allegedly traveling at speeds exceeding 120kmph, struck a scooter. All four occupants of the luxury car, identified as college students, have been taken into custody by Ernakulam rural police.
Investigators have booked the driver for negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The other three passengers face charges of abetment, with police believing they allowed the driver to operate the vehicle despite his alleged intoxication. Evidence suggests the occupants may have consumed alcohol at multiple bars prior to the accident.
Further investigation revealed an old Instagram video purportedly showing the car's speedometer reaching 220kmph, raising concerns about the driver's history of high-speed driving. The motor vehicle department is also initiating proceedings to suspend the driver's license, while the excise department has registered cases against three establishments implicated in serving the youths alcohol.
The victims, identified as Devika (21), Gopika (22), and Iyas (21), were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were handed over to their families after post-mortem examinations. Authorities are awaiting laboratory reports to confirm blood alcohol levels.
