A 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life due to electrocution in Karnataka's Tumakuru district earlier this week. The incident took place on Friday evening under the Koratagere Police Station limits. The teenager was walking home from playing near a government school when he came into contact with a live, low-hanging electric wire.
Eyewitnesses reported that the wire's insulation was damaged, suggesting a severe lack of maintenance. Local residents immediately rushed the boy to Sridevi Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. His father has since filed a formal complaint against officials of the Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB).
The complaint alleges that the KEB officials were negligent in securing and maintaining the electrical connection to the school, directly causing the fatal accident. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and have launched a thorough investigation into the matter, seeking accountability for the preventable tragedy.
