Kanpur Teens Vanish in Ganga River
18 Aug
Summary
- Two teenagers went missing while bathing in the Ganga.
- Rescue efforts by PAC and NDRF teams continue.
- Strong currents and water level fluctuations hinder the search.
A major search operation is underway in Kanpur after two teenagers, 16-year-old Krishna and 17-year-old Shiva, disappeared while bathing in the Ganga River at Dyodhi Ghat. The incident occurred on Monday, and despite continuous efforts for over 24 hours, no trace of the youths has been found as of Tuesday.
PAC teams commenced a search operation early Tuesday, extending their efforts approximately 50 kilometers downstream to Chandika Ghat in Unnao. Later, a 30-member NDRF team arrived with divers and specialized equipment, including two steamers. They are conducting a focused search in a 300-foot long and 50-foot wide area around the site where the teenagers went missing.
Rescue officials noted that the strong currents and constantly changing water levels in the Ganga are posing significant challenges for the divers. Despite these difficulties, the rescue mission remains active and is expected to continue. Local police are coordinating the ongoing efforts to locate the missing teenagers.
