In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, police have initiated an inquiry following allegations that a newborn infant died after a fire erupted in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of a private nursing home. The baby girl had been born just hours prior at the same facility in the Brahm Nagar area.
The victim's family staged a protest at the hospital, asserting that the death resulted from the negligence of the hospital and its personnel. They claim staff delayed reporting the incident, which was only disclosed after persistent requests from the family.
