In Jhansi, a devastating house wall collapse on Monday morning claimed the life of 44-year-old Saroj Hayaran and left her husband, Mukesh, injured. The incident occurred in the densely populated Bisati Bazaar area under the Kotwali police station. The rear wall of their decades-old home, reportedly constructed with thin bricks from the British era, gave way due to continuous heavy rain. The couple was near the wall when it collapsed, trapping them under the debris. Local residents quickly responded, alerting the police and fire department, who launched a rescue operation. Both were extracted and rushed to a hospital. Doctors pronounced Saroj dead upon arrival, while Mukesh was admitted for treatment of his injuries. Following the tragedy, authorities have initiated assessments of other old and potentially vulnerable houses in the vicinity to preempt further incidents and ensure resident safety.
