Stephen Ramsden and his partner had booked a two-week stay at the premium Hotel Riu Reggae, incurring a cost of £4,285. Their vacation was cut short when, just three days into their stay, the resort was placed under lockdown as the hurricane caused widespread devastation across the island.
Feeling that their safety was compromised, Mr Ramsden expressed concerns that TUI allowed them to travel despite the impending storm. He is urging the travel company to provide a refund for the ruined holiday. The BBC approached TUI for a statement, but the company has declined to comment on this specific case.
