ITBP DIG, Driver Killed in Highway Crash

A senior Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officer and his driver were fatally injured in a severe road accident on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on the Dehradun-Panchkula National Highway in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, near the Jhabiran cut.
ITBP Deputy Inspector General Parminder Singh was traveling in an SUV when it reportedly lost control. The vehicle crossed the central divider and crashed head-on into an oncoming Swift Dzire. Singh and his driver, Ravi Shankar, were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The occupants of the Swift Dzire, identified as Gurunanak Singh, Devendra Kaur, and Gurnam Singh, sustained injuries. One individual from the Swift Dzire is in critical condition, while the other two are receiving medical treatment.
Police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident. Evidence from the crash site has been collected. Preliminary findings suggest the SUV lost control before crossing into the opposite lane, causing the fatal collision.
