Teenager's Stunt Halts Train in Inverness
26 May
Summary
- A train stopped urgently due to a teen on tracks.
- The incident occurred just 65ft from the speeding train.
- This marks the second dangerous trespassing event recently.

An emergency train stop occurred in Inverness on May 7th when a teenager trespassed on the railway line. The youth narrowly avoided collision, stepping clear only when the train was approximately 65ft distant.
This dangerous incident follows another on April 30th, where a group of five teenagers were seen placing stones on the tracks before removing them. Network Rail emphasized the extreme danger posed by such actions.
Both incidents put the lives of the teenagers, passengers, and railway staff at significant risk. Approximately 30 trains pass through this crossing daily at speeds up to 50mph.
Network Rail stated that the railway is an operational environment with fast-moving trains incapable of sudden stops. The incidents occurred days after the launch of the 'No Second Chances' campaign, aimed at deterring railway trespassing.
