An IndiGo flight, operating the Patna to Lucknow service, encountered a significant mid-air emergency on Wednesday when it was struck by lightning. The severe impact resulted in extensive damage to the aircraft's nose.
Despite the perilous situation, the flight crew expertly navigated the aircraft, landing it safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The flight, 6E925, carried 104 passengers and six crew members, all of whom disembarked without any reported injuries.
The damaged aircraft has been grounded in Lucknow pending an investigation and clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The aircraft will only be permitted to resume operations after undergoing necessary inspections and receiving official approval.
