Massive Search for Missing IIT MBA Student
12 Feb
Summary
- An IIT Roorkee MBA student is missing after falling into Ganganahar canal.
- Rescue teams from SDRF, NDRF, and the Army are conducting an intensive search.
- The student slipped and was swept away by the canal's fast current.

A large-scale search is ongoing for Ashish Shukla, a second-year MBA student at IIT Roorkee, who disappeared after falling into the Ganganahar canal on February 11. Multiple agencies, including SDRF, NDRF, Jal Police, and Army personnel, are engaged in the rescue operation. The search spans from Maharshi Valmiki Ghat to Asaf Nagar Jhal, but the canal's strong current is hindering divers. Shukla, a resident of Varanasi, was with friends at Valmiki Ghat when the incident occurred. He was immediately carried away by the water, prompting a swift response from witnesses and locals. The search, temporarily halted due to darkness, resumed early on February 12 and continues as authorities consider extending the search downstream if necessary.
