Northbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way experienced major disruptions after a significant collision involving four vehicles. The incident occurred near South 272nd Street at milepost 146, leading to the closure of most northbound lanes and considerable traffic delays.
The sequence of events, as reported by the Washington State Patrol, involved a vehicle drifting onto the shoulder and striking a parked WSDOT attenuator truck. This initial impact led to further collisions with two additional vehicles. Fortunately, no WSDOT workers were present in the struck truck at the time of the incident.
Emergency crews, including the Washington State Patrol and incident response teams, swiftly responded to the scene. Despite the significant damage, including deployed airbags in one of the involved vehicles, authorities confirmed that no serious injuries were sustained by any of the individuals involved in the crash.
