Hyundai Motor America is recalling 294,128 vehicles in the U.S. due to a critical safety issue involving front seat belt anchors. These anchors have the potential to detach during a collision, rendering them ineffective and substantially increasing the risk of occupant injury.
The recall, identified under NHTSA campaign number 26V218000, specifically affects certain 2023-2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6, 2024-2026 Hyundai Santa Fe, and 2024-2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid models. Additionally, the luxury Genesis brand is included, with 2023-2026 Genesis G90 models being part of this recall.
Dealers will provide a complimentary inspection of the seat belt anchors. If a defect is found, the anchors will be reinforced or replaced. Hyundai is scheduled to mail official notification letters to affected owners starting June 5, 2026. Vehicle owners can proactively check recall status using their Vehicle Identification Number on the NHTSA website.
