30 Oct
Summary
- Large rock rolled down hill, crushed GHMC garbage trolley
- No casualties as area was deserted at the time
- HYDRAA's Disaster Response Force and GHMC worked to clear the boulder

In a dramatic incident on October 30, 2025, a major accident was narrowly averted in Hyderabad's Malkajgiri area. Around 11 AM, a large rock suddenly rolled down a hill in Mallikarjuna Nagar, crushing a parked GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) garbage trolley. Remarkably, there were no casualties, as the area was deserted at the time.
Following the incident, personnel from HYDRAA's Disaster Response Force (DRF) and the GHMC arrived on the scene and worked tirelessly throughout the day to break the massive boulder into smaller pieces. By 9:30 PM, the debris had been completely cleared. Officials suspect that the continuous rain and gusty winds since the previous night may have loosened the soil, causing the boulder to dislodge and careen down the hill.
While the damage was limited to the GHMC trolley, the incident has left local residents shaken. Authorities are now reviewing safety measures in the area to prevent similar occurrences in the future and ensure the safety of the community.
