In NTR Nagar, Gopanpally, a four-storey residential building suddenly developed a visible tilt on Friday, raising immediate safety concerns. All eight occupants were safely evacuated from the structure, and neighboring residences were cleared as a precautionary measure by authorities.
The building, situated on a 50-square-yard plot in Serilingampally zone, began leaning dangerously to one side. Officials suspect that adjacent construction activities may have caused structural damage, leading to the hazardous tilt.
This event echoes previous incidents in western Hyderabad, where high-density construction on small plots has become a recurring issue. Notably, a seven-storey building collapsed in Gachibowli on August 22, resulting in two fatalities and leading to the arrest of a builder and suspension of a town-planning official.
Another residential building in Siddiq Nagar had tilted in November 2024 due to unauthorized cellar excavation on an adjacent plot, necessitating a large-scale evacuation and subsequent demolition. Engineering teams are currently inspecting the tilted building's foundation and structural integrity.
