A family narrowly escaped their home in Clinton Township after a powerful explosion and subsequent fire destroyed their residence. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, with authorities pinpointing a leaking propane tank as the cause.
An 84-year-old woman, inside the kitchen, was partially trapped when the initial blast occurred around 10 a.m. She managed to alert her 63-year-old son, who was upstairs, to escape through a window. He subsequently jumped from the roof to safety. Both the couple and their son have since been released from the hospital.
Fire crews from three counties responded to the blaze, battling the flames for several hours in intense heat. Videos shared by residents captured thick black smoke billowing into the sky. The community is now rallying to support the family, with plans for a fundraiser to aid in their recovery and rebuilding efforts.
