Hospital Probes Staff Access to Crocodile Attack Victim's Data

An investigation has been launched by a hospital concerning the medical records of a three-year-old boy who sustained serious injuries in a crocodile enclosure. Up to 40 hospital staff members reportedly accessed the child's sensitive information. The incident occurred at Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon.
The boy, who is from Cambridgeshire, is currently in a stable condition at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) is scrutinizing whether there were valid operational or clinical reasons for the data access.
CUH has also formally reported the matter to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). They stated that any staff found to have accessed patient records improperly would face disciplinary action, potentially including dismissal. The family of the injured child has been made aware of the ongoing investigation.
