- Dealers will inspect and repair or reinforce affected rear suspension components.

American Honda Motor Co. is recalling a significant number of vehicles, exceeding 800,000 units, due to concerns about rear suspension components potentially failing. This defect could lead to a loss of vehicle control, heightening the risk of accidents and injuries.
The affected vehicles include certain 2016-2022 Honda Pilot, 2017-2023 Ridgeline, 2019-2023 Passport, and 2014-2020 Acura MDX models. The recall specifically impacts vehicles sold in numerous northeastern and midwestern U.S. states.
The core issue lies with the rear subframe, where corrosion at suspension mounting points can compromise the entire rear suspension system. Honda estimates that only about 1% of the recalled vehicles will exhibit this defect. However, the company has reported no warranty claims or injuries related to the problem.
To address this, Honda and Acura dealerships will perform inspections on the rear subframe. If necessary, they will install a reinforcement kit or undertake repairs or replacement of the faulty components, all free of charge to vehicle owners. Owners can expect to receive notification letters by July 7.
