Hindon River Water Levels Remain Below Danger Mark

As of Monday, the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department has confirmed that the Hindon river's water level remains below the danger mark, which is set at 205.80 metres. The river is currently flowing at approximately 200.25 metres, with no rainfall reported on the day. This monitoring is ongoing, with inspections of both Hindon and Yamuna embankments being conducted.
Recent rainfall in the river's catchment area has caused its water level to rise, leading to floodwater spreading into low-lying areas. Settlements such as Chotpur, Chhajarsi, Kulesra, and Haibatpur have experienced inundation across lanes and fields. Residents are concerned about a recurrence of the severe 2023 floods, which displaced over 3,000 people.
Some residents have found their access cut off, relying on neighbours for necessities. Others, though staying put for now, are preparing to evacuate if water levels escalate further, fearing displacement similar to previous events.
