Himachal Floods: Roads Blocked, Farms Washed Away
13 Aug
Summary
- Over 200 roads blocked across Himachal Pradesh due to flash floods.
- Flash floods in Lahaul-Spiti destroyed farmlands and washed away a bridge.
- Chamba also experienced flash floods, disrupting connectivity and damaging roads.

More than 200 roads remained blocked across Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday following recent flash floods that devastated agricultural fields and disrupted connectivity, particularly in the Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti districts.
In Lahaul-Spiti, a powerful flash flood near Tinno village on Tuesday inundated agricultural fields and washed away the Munshi Nallah bridge. This event cut off connectivity to several villages and damaged essential infrastructure, including an irrigation channel and water pipelines. Livestock were left stranded due to the destroyed access route.
Similarly, Chamba's Churah sub-division experienced disruptions as the Satrundi rivulet's water level rose, halting traffic on the Bairagarh-Sach Pass-Killar road. The Pangi area also reported damage to a bridge over the Hillu rivulet, severing connectivity to Shoon panchayat.
State-wide, the severe weather impacted power and water supply, with 19 transformer regions non-functional and 70 water supply schemes disrupted. Mandi reported the highest number of road closures with 94, followed by Kullu with 60.
