Hiker Dies Searching for Lost Group in Anza

A fatal incident occurred late Saturday in the Anza area of Riverside County, where a person died after falling approximately 150 feet while attempting to locate a group of hikers. The initial call reported four individuals who had not returned from their hike, prompting concern for their well-being.
Riverside County Sheriff's Office Aviation and Mountain Rescue Units were deployed. They successfully located the missing hikers and safely airlifted them to Lake Hemet Mountain Station for medical assessment. The focus then shifted to finding the additional subject who had gone to search for the group.
Tragically, this second hiker was found deceased near the base of a steep rock face. The Riverside Coroner's Bureau is investigating the incident, and the individual has not yet been identified. The body was recovered from the remote location.
