- Mother feared the worst as her son disappeared underwater.
A mother from Leeds has returned to a seaside town to personally thank the dedicated lifeboat volunteers who rescued her son and nephew. Zully witnessed the terrifying incident on May 28th when her 10-year-old son, Subby, and 12-year-old nephew, Kizza, became stranded.
The pair were clinging to the stanchions of Blackpool's South Pier, cut off by the fast-advancing tide. Zully described the experience as a "nightmare," watching helplessly as her son's head disappeared beneath the waves, fearing the worst.
Fortunately, the swift intervention of the lifeboat crew prevented a tragedy. The volunteers successfully brought the two boys back to safety, an act for which Zully is eternally grateful. She visited the town to convey her heartfelt thanks to the rescuers.
