Helmet Tech Saves Man After Arizona Motorcycle Crash

A woman in Arizona successfully saved her husband's life after a severe motorcycle accident, thanks to a crash detection alert from his helmet. Dustin Hayes was riding on New River Road on Friday, January 2, 2026, when he crashed around 9:00 p.m., landing in a concealed area off the road. His wife, Brooke Hayes, received an urgent alert from his Cardo Packtalk Pro Bluetooth device, indicating a potential accident and providing a pin-drop location. This allowed her to quickly find him, despite him not answering calls. Police, who arrived shortly after, expressed surprise that Dustin survived after being unobserved for over 30 minutes.

Brooke Hayes discovered her husband's bike had gone over a fence, and he was in a spot where he couldn't be seen. She believes he may have been thrown from his motorcycle while trying to avoid an animal. Dustin sustained critical injuries, including 20 broken bones affecting his neck and spine, a concussion, and a brain bleed. He is currently in an induced coma but is expected to emerge. Brooke shared her profound gratitude, stating she was able to find him and save his life.

To support Dustin's extensive recovery, a GoFundMe has been established, aiming to raise $9,000 for essential living expenses like rent and utilities during his long period of incapacitation. The campaign has already garnered over $8,000. Brooke emphasized the challenging road ahead, involving surgery, rehabilitation, and numerous medical appointments, and expressed deep gratitude for any contributions to help her family navigate this difficult time.
