12 Oct
Summary
- Over 82,000 rechargeable hand warmers recalled due to overheating.
- Products from HotHands and Gobi Heat pose fire and burn hazards.
- Consumers are urged to stop using and return for a full refund.

A widespread recall has been issued for over 82,000 rechargeable hand warmers due to serious fire and burn hazards. The affected products include both Kobayashi's HotHands and Gobi Heat brands, sold across the United States and Canada. These devices, featuring lithium-ion batteries, can overheat and ignite, posing a risk of injury.
The recall encompasses approximately 77,000 HotHands units, identified by model number H163650, and about 5,500 Gobi Heat units with model number UT3053. These hand warmers were sold between July 2025 and August 2026 at retailers such as Target, The Home Depot, and Amazon.
Consumers are strongly advised to cease using the recalled hand warmers immediately. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends contacting the respective companies for a complete refund. Furthermore, disposal of these items should not occur in regular household trash or recycling bins due to the fire risk associated with lithium-ion batteries.
