On October 28th, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Begelly, Wales, where a 79-year-old grandmother lost her life in a freak accident involving a motorhome. Carolyn Codd, a mother of two with seven grandchildren, was helping her husband Jim maneuver the family's motorhome outside their country home when the horror unfolded.
According to the inquest, Mrs. Codd was fatally struck and crushed against the wall of the house by the large vehicle as her husband was moving it. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their best efforts, Carolyn Codd was pronounced dead just after 2 pm that afternoon.
The Health and Safety Executive and local police are currently conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mrs. Codd's death. Coroner Gareth Lewis has adjourned the inquest until February 12th, when witness statements and a full post-mortem report will be submitted.
The Vintage Motor Cycle Club (VMCC) West South Wales paid tribute to Carolyn, describing her as a "dear friend" who had enjoyed many happy hours riding motorcycles and sidecars with her husband over the years. The family has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of caring wishes and condolences from the community.
